Campsite photos website offers a review of camping at El Capitan State Beach
Overview of El Capitan State Beach
Beach El Capitan State 061
There are 142 single-family campsites at the reasonably sizable El Capitan State Beach campground, which is situated near to a magnificent beach in central California. From April 1 to November 30, camp spots can be reserved. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis the rest of the year.
Trailers, motorhomes, and tents can all be parked at campsites (up to 42 feet). Only trailers and RVs are permitted on sites 124–132. The campground doesn't have any hookups. ADA 8, 9, 20, 26, 33, 38, 39, 40, 80, and 83 are the camp sites. There is a barbecue, table, and fire ring at each campsite as well. 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. are considered quiet hours. Per camping, a maximum of 8 persons and 3 vehicles are permitted. However, one vehicle and one towed vehicle will be covered by your reservation price.
There are also five group camping spots with ocean views: Cabrillo, DeAnza, Drake, Portola, and Ortega. They can hold 40 to 60 people (tent camping). There is paved parking available at the group sites (for cars and small RVs). North of the group camping area, there are a few hike-in and bike-in campsites as well. There is extra parking available.
Flush toilets, potable water, coin-operated showers, a laundromat, a day use/picnic area, and a campfire centre are available at the campground. Also for sale from the campground host is firewood.
Throughout the park, there are several shady locations with oak and sycamore trees, including the El Capitan campground. Additionally, some of the campgrounds have cliff-top locations with magnificent views. There are numerous hiking routes as well as a sandy beach with tide pools.
Recreation at the El Capitan State Beach Area
High cliffs, sandy beaches, rocky tide pools, and a lot of surf may all be found along this region's coastline. If you keep a look out, you might catch a glimpse of beautiful dolphins, elephant seals, or sea lions in the water. Additionally, there is a fair probability that you will see some whales as they go to and from Mexico.
Swimming, surf-fishing, surfing, ocean kayaking, hiking, biking, lounging, beach-combing, picnicking, and wildlife viewing are all examples of outdoor activities.
Gaviota State Park (39 campsites), Carpinteria State Beach (216 campsites), and Refugio State Beach are the other three campgrounds in the vicinity (66 campsites).
